Why, Father?

The father from The Road, he had died. He died of loss blood, hunger, and cold. This wouldn't happened if he wasn't so paranoid. The boy have learned all the survival skills from the father, he was prepared to go on his own. There is one thing he refuse to listen that father had told him. If you see anyone out there, hide, they are bad people. Whatever you do not trust them. So, in the end when his father died, the boy meandered out in the road all on his own. He saw a man holding a shotgun, scarred face, and wearing black clothing, to hide part of his identity. The boy didn't run, he stood there, and waited for the man. The man came up to the boy, and asked where his father. He's dead. Oh. The man pondered and decided to ask the boy to live with his family. The boy said are you one of the good guys? The man says you have to trust me if you can. The boy went with him. He recovered all his things and lived with his family. The first thing came to my mind is that why father is so paranoid. If he wasn't afraid to meet people out in the street then they could have formed a group. They could worked together to survive. The father would been alive, and the boy wouldn't be so lonely. The boy had carried the fire.

A Wise Monkey
By: Danny Laughlin

On a very hot sunny day in Timbuktu, Mali of Africa, there was a large village that is in chaos. They needed a new leader, who is fast, strong, and very wise. On that day, the Lion roared on the top of the hill, to get everyone’s attention. He’s the Lion King, name Sundiata. He has something to say, “We are in trouble,” Sundiata sighs, “My minister says, I’m not running this village properly. So, We need a new leader, who has an ability to run fast, has strength, and very wise. If you think you can lead, the contest starts tomorrow, 1 p.m. thanks for your time.” Sundiata was sad. The whole town was clamoring about the news, they were shocked, but who is going to compete? Polka Dot, the cheetah, walks through the village being all macho and he announced he’s going to compete and win. “Haha, I have speed, strength, but I don’t know about wise, but everyone is afraid to compete against me! Losers! Mawhahaha!” Polka Dot laughed. The village was scared, and didn’t want Polka Dot to win! This is a disaster They had to find someone who willing, and can compete him. Hulk, the Rhino decides to step in and compete. “Well, I have strength! I can beat him.” Says the Hulk but everyone was concerned because he was a bully awhile ago, and didn’t think Hulk fits to be a leader. There was rumor all around in town, that a old wise monkey name Einstein is going to compete. “WHAT!! Who the heck is he?” Yelled the Polka Dot.

How Would You handle ofbeing the last person on Earth?

Being the last person on Earth would be the most disastrous thing ever. When I thought this over, I wondered, "who am I going to talk with, and hang out with?" There is no one is there for you. Survival is what people need to know when they are the last human being on earth. Many people say they need food, shelter, and warmth, and I already know how to live. I learned everything I need to know in Boyscout. I already learned wilderness survival, cooking, first aid, and camping. I'm going to survive through those things but how can I survive through boredom, the only living being on earth! If I assumed I was going to die of boredom. The worst death you can ever think of. I would be fine with that, and I would be back with my people in heaven. There is nothing I can do to stop that. If I was a women, I would definitely try to repopulate the earth. It may be awhile to do that, but hey there's something to do. People have ask me if I can handle of being alone. Yes, indeed I can handle like a gentleman. But there is one problem, I don't think I ever want to be alone for the rest of my life.

Calylpso's Island, and Buffalo New York

As I remembered when I was reading about Odysseus was trapped at Calypso's island. I had a flashback. I was 6 years old, and I was in Buffalo New york. So, I thought this is a good connection, and I'll tell you why. One time, I was really angry that we can't get to do what I want to do. We were in the museum, the worst place you can ever be in and I wanted to see the old light house on the shore, it was like a quarter mile away. I never stop thinking about it. I thought it wasn't no big deal to lie and tell my parents that I need to go to the bathroom. So, I decided to sneak out and run as fast as I can to get the light house. All the sudden, I started to feel scared because I was assumed that I was lost for sure. I looked around and tried to find the light house or the museum and I couldn't and I freaked out. I felt trapped cause I didn't want to go any farther because I'll be even more lost than I ever was. Also, I didn't know which way is back home. I was crying and didn't know what to do because I was trapped. I thought that it is similar to Odysseus's story, that he was trapped and wanted to go back home, Ithaca. So, as I was lost, I heard someone, strangely I can hear very well, but I know I heard something. I followed the voice and found my way out. I noticed the museum again, and I went in to find my family. They were very worried, and thought I was lost somewhere in the museum. I told the story to my parent, what really happened.

Canada, Here we come!

As I was reading the article, I was shocked. Since Obama was elected for president, there was a rumor that people was talking about moving to Canada but there is a problem. As the article was saying that Canada has a very strict policy. You can't just get in and find a place to live for the next 4 years. The first thing you have to do is to take a test to become a citizen. The test is not that easy, she said. You have to know their government, their politics, and background about Canada. Also, the police will search you and your background to find if it's safe to let you in. So, I started to ponder, "Well I have a cabin at Rainy Lake, which it is in Canada. Can I just go up to my cabin and live there? Well, because in last few years, all I had to is get my I68, and RABC and then I can stay at my cabin. Will it be different this year?" I was curious what could happen next summer. Can I just do the same, or the police will be more stricter? This article was important, because its telling you to be more prepared if you're moving to Canada, this is not easy as you thought it would be.

My Puppy is Growing :(

Well, my puppy has to grow at some time and that time is now. Rainy was gaining weight, the first day i saw her, she was 12 pounds and now 29 pounds. She has double her size, but she looks a lot bigger. All i know that girl dog are suppose to be smaller than guy dogs. Hopefully we'll keep that way. Anyways she is learning a lot of new tricks, she learned how to shake, jump, come, sit, leave it, drop it, and heel. The funny thing is that my mom told me about the puppy class that Rainy is taking that the trainer said Rainy is the smartest, and also the cutest. I laughed and cheered with my puppy. I knew she was showing respect. I was astonished that she behaved really well, but at half of the time, she can get pretty wild. When she goes outside, she is very jumpy and stealing my hat and run around. It happens a lot. My dad and I went down to the game farm and train Rainy. At first we showed her the bird and she will be searching up and down the field. She couldn't resist the bird. As we walk, i shot some shells for her to hear and react it really well. She was really talent, and a natural. We were happy. We also hoping that by Christmas, Rainy could hunt with us and bring some pheasants home for dinner. And now, we wait for the next month and a half, to see if she becomes smarter, cuter, and doubling her size again!

Everything i need to know i learned from hockey

I learned everything i need to know from hockey. Hockey can help me and prepare later in life. In hockey, we learned the importance of team work, being mentally focus, and physically strong. Team work has the most impact on everyone. When I have a job, I need to work with people together. No matter what if we all hated each other. We have to do well to keep this job. In hockey, if I dislike someone and I was not cooperating with this person, I get benched. So, if i dont cooperate at work, i get fired. Mentally focus is really important during the game, i have to keep and eye on the puck and prepare the next move. For instance, when I'm taking the test i need to remember and prepare to do well. Its like winning the game. Physically strong, i improved on my agility, leg strength, and body shape. I learned that staying in shape and strong, i will live a long life. So when i get older, i will be working and not participate in any sports. That when i need to exercise everyday and not lie on the couch until I'm 80 years old. There is many qualities that i have learned from playing hockey. I also learned kind, being friendly, keep striving, don't give up, and determination.

Hero!!! Hero!!!

Hero means many different things to me. It can be a T.V. show that I watch in the evening. It can be someone who saves another persons life such as; a firefighter, police officer, or any citizen that steps up and saves another person. It also could be someone who teaches another person a life lesson like going to college. College is an important part of someones future, it teaches them how to afford food, clothing, and shelter. It allows you to get a degree so that you can get a good job and support yourself and your family. My parents are heroes to me, because they work hard to make my life the best possible life I can have. They provided me with a home and the luxury of food, and quality clothing. They have sacrificed many things for me and my family. My parents have supported my interests in sports by paying the extra money so that I could participate in sporting events. They also support me by attending my many sporting events.

Rush Hour

My favorite movie is Rush Hour. It has the best character in this movie. One of all time favorite actor is Jackie Chan. He has a sense of humor and always attempt crazy Kung Fu moves. In Rush Hour, Jackie didn't need some rope to hold him up to do dangerous jump. He did all by himself. It was real. The story of Rush Hour is interesting and funny. Jackie and Chris Tucker work together really well. This movie was a action/comedy movie. Jackie was the action dude and Chris Tucker was the comedy dude. That is the reason why this is my favorite. I laughed about half the time and enjoyed the action of half of the time. The background was phenomenal. The story took place in China and it has perfect background to fit the story. The sound effect was good. Since this movie became popular. They made Rush Hour 2. It was even better, the background, sound effect, picture, and the story. It was still my favorite. They decided to do one more movie, Rush Hour 3. I love it. Typically the third movie is terrible. They always over done it but not with Rush Hour. It didn't over do it. It flows perfectly from 1 to 2 to 3. That's why it is my favorite movie.

It's Hunting Season

Every year my dad and I, well and my brother but he's in college. So, this year might be different cause my brother won't be with us. He was a huge help but anyways it's hunting season. We always go up to North Dakota over MEA. It's my favorite time of the year. We hunt for ducks and hopefully bring some meat back home. The reason it's my favorite cause it's the feeling i have. We always get up really early like 4:00 in the morning and i get really excited and fully awake. Of course I have some butterflies in my stomach. We ate some donuts and milk before the big day. After that, we get our hunting gear and drive up to the potholes. We try to find the best spot by using the wind, temperature, and look for good hide out. Anyways, we drove up to the pothole and its still dark outside. My dad and I brought all the gear we needed for the day. As we got to our spot, we throw out some duck decoys, we figure it might get duck's attention. So as we waited in the weeds by the water. Here comes my favorite part. The sun starts to come up, it's so beautiful cause in the sky has red and oranges and mostly still black. Its really peaceful and quiet. As the day come we hunt for ducks and start again the next day. I can't wait for Mea this year. It gonna be blast!!!

A Golf Ball

I know this might sound strange. When I try to aim my goal, I am like a golf ball. I'll tell you why. The reason I thought that I am a golf ball because it takes awhile for me to get the hole, a place where my goal is. I may get off track a couple of times but I still have to make in the hole. But the problem is I can't do it myself, that's why I needed my clubs to keep the golf ball moving. Just imagine that clubs are people, every time you swing it give boost to the ball to get closer to the hole. That why I always needed people to encourage me, or boost me. I can't always do it alone. I needed people to swing 2 or more times to get in the hole. Anyways, I always have hoped that the next hole would be par three because it would take less swings and accomplished my goal quicker. When I have completed my golf game, I tried to get the least number of swings on my scorecard. When I play the next golf game, I will improve reaching my goal better. I hope that someday, Tiger Wood would swing me.

My New Puppy.

I just got a new puppy. The puppy is everything extraordinary, it was a perfect puppy. His father was 3 times hunting champion, and his mother was pointer champion. They blended together just perfect. On that day, we got our new puppy, we knew that she would be sad and scared because she just left her parents and her first home in Colorado. Surprising, when she saw us she was excited, she was playful and ready to be in our new home. We loved her right when we saw her eyes. I knew she would be a perfect puppy. Over the weekend, we were with the Rainy, that our puppy's new name, anyways we were with her for 24/7. We played with her and trained her. She was very smart for a puppy because she learned how to sit, heal, not to bite, to go to the bathroom outside and lastly her name. I was impressed. She learned all of that in a weekend but later she will need to learn how to be a hunting dog. I can't wait to find out what Rainy can do more in the future. Rainy is our best dog we ever had and I am thankful for that.

Blog expectation

My name is Danny Laughlin. This is my super cool blog, which i will personalize and make my own(but not post pics of myself on or use my last name on). I will always use appropriate language on my school blog and follow the conventions of English language. The expectation for this assignment is that I post on my blog once a week for the remainder of the school year. I am expected to comment on texts that i am viewing in the world around me. These might include, but are not limited to: books, magazines, movies, Internet articles, television shows, trip to museums, etc. Each post should be at least 200 words. Each weekly post is due by 8am Wednesday. Therefore, Q1 due dates are: 9/17, 9/24, 10/1 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29. That makes for a total of 7 posts this first quarter. I understand that blogs are worth 100 points per quarter and are graded holistically (That means there will be no specific grading rubric). I also understand that blogging is a significant of my quarter grade. By the way, what I have just typed is only 196 words! Now it is 200!
